Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some group of people believe that our education system is focusing on theory more rather than practical knowledge. To which I disagree because, be it any level of study I have seen the professor not only explain the topic but also make sure the practical expect or it. This essay will clarify my views more.

Firstly, there are different methods of making the student understand the chapter. For example, at primary level the teacher chooses a playful method of teaching like with toys or colors, so that the child understand and remember what they studied.

Moreover, in higher secondary sections, the professor make sures everyone prepares apparatus and perform the practical. By this way each and every individual in the class has the chance to know their sharpness, and the professor also has the chance to know what student is weak and needs more attention.

Moving forward to Bachelor degree, I think both the theory and practical skills are important. As my background is from healthcare, I can relate the time given to studying cases and learning anatomy is more crucial and a basic need initially. After that the rounds with seniors to see patients were equally valued, so that we can apply what we studied, under supervision.

As much as time taken to learn theory skills uptill a point the person can remember them, than comes the chance to apply. Which is again what I think is a progressive way of educating. Knowledge is not only mugging up but to understand the concepts and tryin to apply them in real life senerios.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position against the statement. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples from primary, secondary, and tertiary education, the explanations remain superficial. For instance, in the paragraph about higher secondary education, you mention 'performing the practical' but do not fully explain why this supports your argument that the current balance is sufficient. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments, ensuring that your examples directly support your stance rather than just describing a process. The conclusion is a bit brief and could more effectively synthesize your main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a different level of education. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Moving forward', which help the reader follow your argument. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'than comes the chance to apply' in the final paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring tighter logical connections would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'anatomy', 'apparatus', and 'healthcare'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'practical expect or it' (likely meant 'practical aspect of it'), 'know their sharpness' (which is not a standard collocation), and 'mugging up'. These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more academic, precise terminology rather than informal or colloquial expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the professor make sures'), incorrect word forms ('uptill' should be 'until'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are also structurally awkward, such as 'To which I disagree because, be it any level of study I have seen the professor not only explain the topic but also make sure the practical expect or it.' These errors are noticeable and occur frequently, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding your overall message.
