Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued by a group of individuals that in all levels of education, a large amount of time spent to learn facts rather than doing practical. I firmly agree with this statement, because of high academic competition and less practical laboratories.
To begin with, there are several reasons why the trend of learning factual data is more common. Primarily, the level of competition among students to gain higher marks is very high nowadays whether is it a primary or tertiary level. Since written exams are considered to evaluate the toppers, pupils try to memorize the theory to get higher marks. For example, in all levels of education the marks weightage of theory is much more than the practical assignment. Consequently, learners spend more time to remember facts to do well in their academic exams.
In addition, availability of less number of practical laboratories is another significant cause of this trend. Students get less exposure of practical equipment and supplies from basic level. Due to they show a less interest in doing practical. For instance, in some under developing countries like India and Pakistan, their education system has lower budget. So they spend less amount of money to provide their primary to tertiary level of instructions with practical supplies.
On the other hand, learning facts and figures is crucial to clarify concepts before getting involved in the physical training. However, the importance of learning practical skills cannot be completely ignored because it is equally important in the professional life.
In conclusion, although learning data and facts are useful in all levels of education to get higher marks, an equal amount of time should be spent to learn practical applications of a principle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding academic competition and the lack of laboratory facilities are relevant and logically developed. However, the essay could be improved by providing more specific examples of how practical skills are neglected in specific subjects or how this impacts students' future careers. The conclusion is a bit brief, and the counter-argument in the fourth paragraph is slightly underdeveloped. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'Consequently' are used effectively to link sentences and ideas. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the sentence 'Due to they show a less interest', which is grammatically awkward and disrupts the cohesion. Overall, the structure is sound and supports the development of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'tertiary level', 'factual data', and 'theoretical assignment'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'availability of less number of practical laboratories' (should be 'a lack of') and 'under developing countries' (should be 'developing countries'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, prepositions, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'whether is it a primary or tertiary level'). The phrase 'Due to they show a less interest' is grammatically incorrect and hinders clarity. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and sentence construction is needed.
