Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of practical skills. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the importance of practical skills for jobs like electricians, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The introduction is slightly confusing due to grammatical errors, making the thesis statement less impactful. To improve, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same general idea about 'future jobs' and 'confidence' multiple times. More specific examples or a deeper exploration of why theoretical knowledge might be insufficient would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. You rely on basic transitions like 'To commence with' and 'Moving towards the next reason', which feel mechanical. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'book knowledge' and 'future job' is disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows logically into the next, rather than relying on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use words like 'things', 'work', and 'job' without much variation. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'learning resources' (which does not accurately convey 'theoretical knowledge') and 'do their work more productive' (should be 'more productively'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to education and professional development, and pay closer attention to the correct form of words (e.g., using adjectives vs. adverbs).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'if any person just have book knowledge... what never know i implement things'). Many sentences are run-on or lack necessary punctuation, making them difficult to parse. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses.
