Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people believe that education spent more time on theoretical learning regardless of thier levels of education. Education institutes generally teach facts instead of spending enough time on teaching practical skills. I totally agree with this statement and I believe education syllabus should be improved and focus more on practical knowledege because it helps students to get employement faster.

When education focus more on theoretical knowledge, students can memorize the answer and achieve good marks; however, they do not understand the concepts and their real-life applications. This is because schools are not teaching the practical skills of those particual concepts. For example, although many students get good marks by memorize scientific laws, they are not able to implement in their real life. This is beacuse they have not received education regarding their practical usage.

in Addition, when schools focus on teaching practical skills, students can understand their real-life usages. practical lectures and hands-on practices can help understand the concepts much better. These skills not only help students to achieve good marks but also prepare for their job interviews. For example, companies often prefer to hire those software engineers who have practical knowledege of computer science and built meaningful projects. Companies generally do not consider education marks, they proritize practical knowledege. Consequently, spending more time on practical skills can improve the students' careers.

To conclude, current education system focus on theoritical knowledege and they tests students' memorizing power. However, practical knowledege makes concepts more clear and help achieve better employement opportunities in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that too much time is spent on learning facts rather than practical skills. The main ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as software engineers being hired based on practical knowledge and scientific laws being memorized without real-life application. However, some ideas are slightly repetitive or under-developed, particularly in the conclusion and introduction. The writer covers all parts of the task well, establishing a clear stance throughout. This aligns with the Band 6.0 or 7.0 descriptors; because the ideas are adequately extended with relevant examples despite some minor limitations in depth, a band score of 6.5 is awarded.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a clear overall logical organization with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. The writer uses basic cohesive devices such as 'For example', 'in Addition' (though capitalization is flawed), and 'To conclude' to signal transitions between ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as the critique of theoretical memorization versus the benefits of practical skills. However, referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel mechanical, and formatting errors like missing capital letters at the start of sentences affect cohesion. Overall, the arrangement is coherent and progresses logically, fitting the Band 6.0 criteria well.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'theoretical learning', 'real-life applications', and 'employement opportunities'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('thier' instead of their, 'knowledege' instead of knowledge, 'particual' instead of particular, 'employement' instead of employment, 'proritize' instead of prioritize, 'theoritical' instead of theoretical) and occasional word-choice inaccuracies. While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 7.0. The lexical control is indicative of a solid Band 6.0 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and concessive clauses ('although many students get good marks by memorize scientific laws, they are not able to implement in their real life'). There are, however, frequent grammatical errors, such as missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'Education spent more time', 'when education focus', 'by memorize', 'implement in', 'current education system focus', 'they tests'). Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present at the beginning of sentences and paragraphs. Although these errors do not obscure meaning, they constrain the grammatical accuracy and prevent a higher band score. A score of 5.5 reflects this mix of structures alongside persistent inaccuracies.
