Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether too much time is spent on learning facts versus practical skills across education levels. The writer takes a partial position ('I am partially with this statement as due have more importance of theory as well as practical'), though the phrasing is awkward. Main ideas are presented, such as the benefits of practical work for retention and enjoyment, alongside the necessity of theoretical knowledge for revision and lesson structuring. However, the development of these ideas is limited and at times repetitive, reflecting a tendency toward generalisation rather than deep elaboration. While the task is addressed, some arguments lack clear expansion, placing the performance securely within the Band 5 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into four paragraphs with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently hindered by awkward transitions and confusing sentence structures. For instance, transitional phrases like 'The favourable factor besides it is have experience to the educatees with the practical work' are unnatural and impede smooth reading. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or misused (e.g., 'Due to it, has less chance to forget...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is often faulty, creating a mechanical and disjointed flow. These features align with the Band 5 criteria.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The writer attempts some less common terms, such as 'educatees' and 'pre-dominant component', but these show poor collocational awareness and awkward word choices. Other phrases, such as 'concurrent world' instead of contemporary world, and incorrect word forms like 'theory knowledge' instead of theoretical knowledge, demonstrate strain in lexical control. Spelling is generally acceptable, but the restricted range and frequent inappropriate word choices prevent the score from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, with frequent errors across simple and complex sentence forms. Many sentences are grammatically malformed or incomplete in their clauses, such as 'I am partially with this statement as due have more importance of theory as well as practical' and 'Owing to practical work, i would be more beneficial for the students'. Subject-verb agreement errors, missing prepositions, and incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'Could learn new things') appear throughout the response. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect Band 4 grammatical control.
