Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The student has attempted the task, but the response relies heavily on template phrasing and contains incomplete placeholder sections such as [give a relevant example] and [main idea 2]. Furthermore, the text fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 235 words instead of the required 250 words. While a clear position is hinted at, the ideas are severely under-developed because significant parts of the essay are left blank or generalized within placeholders. This lack of full development and failure to reach the word count limits the score for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses standard structural headings and paragraph signposts, but the heavy reliance on fill-in-the-blank template structures disrupts the natural progression and logical flow of ideas. Sentences like "There are different opinions about whether learning fact andlearning practical skills" show mechanical linking and formatting issues. Paragraphing is attempted with labelled headings, but the internal cohesion fails because the actual content within the body paragraphs is missing or incomplete, preventing a smooth and logical progression of argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is quite repetitive, frequently recycling basic terms like learning fact, practical skills, and different opinions. There are also noticeable typographical and word-choice errors, such as "learning fact andlearning" (spacing error) and "livlihood" (spelling error). The student attempts some basic collocation, but the range is limited and constrained by the heavy reliance on prompt phrasing and template brackets. Lexical resource remains basic and minimally adequate for attempting the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and emerging complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ("if we get theory based education than we can know"). However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies, punctuation issues, and incomplete clauses, such as "because if he or she get the theory education they can ." Subject-verb agreement errors are also present ("he or she get"). The grammatical range is limited due to the unfinished sentences and template gaps.
