Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response is severely under-length, containing only 75 words compared to the required minimum of 250 words. Because of this extreme brevity, the task cannot be fully addressed. The writer manages to introduce a clear position stating that they strongly agree with the statement and begins to mention parental pressure and guardians' expectations. However, the response trails off mid-sentence and fails to develop any ideas, provide examples, or cover all parts of the prompt adequately. Consequently, the task achievement is heavily penalised for incompleteness and under-length, fitting the descriptors for a lower band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Due to the fragmenting nature of the text, it is difficult to judge overall coherence and paragraphing fully. The writing starts with a clear introductory sentence attempting to frame the argument, and the transition into 'One of the major reasons' shows some awareness of how to structure an essay body paragraph. However, because the text stops abruptly after just 75 words and two incomplete sentences, proper progression, logical sequencing, and effective paragraph structure cannot be properly demonstrated or maintained.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used in the student's text is basic and marred by several noticeable spelling errors, such as 'educatonal' instead of educational, 'theoratical' instead of theoretical, 'knowlegde' instead of knowledge, and 'presure' instead of pressure. The writer attempts some topic-related vocabulary like 'institutions', 'prioritze', and 'expectation', but the limited output and persistent misspellings mean that lexical resource remains restricted and below the threshold for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The student attempts a complex structure in the opening sentence ('It is widely believe that...'), but this contains a grammatical error ('widely believe' instead of 'widely believed'). The remaining text is too short to display a wide or reliable range of grammatical structures. While the sentence structure attempted shows some ambition, the presence of grammatical errors in the very few sentences produced indicates limited control.
