Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, Many individuals believe that the education system focuses only on theoretical knowledge and that practical skills are inadequately covered from primary school through higher education. I strongly agree with this statement, and my ideas will articulate my points in this essay.

To commence with, Schools are the main moulding point for children at an early age. To elaborate, if a school's syllabus only explains theory, which definitely fosters profound knowledge regarding concepts and subjects, it will hinder their articulation skills, which might need practical knowledge. For instance, in India, many students face stage fright, as per a recent survey done by the team, and the main reason for this is the school paradigm. Thus, it has an adverse impact on their personality, which they need for their career and future.

Furthermore, at one stage, students' minds need presentation to enhance their grasping power. To explain it, from school to higher grade classes, pupils receive very few projects and practical work, and their minds need to be trained to memorise a process instead of understanding it. This memory will support them during their written exams, but they will not be successful in the world where they have to compete with other talented colleagues who might have better demonstration skills. For example, as per the 2025 survey report, North indian students face more complications in achieving success throughout life due to less verbal and demonstration skills compared to south indian students. As a result, despite gaining higher education, students need to face many obstacles due to an imbalanced education system.

To recapitulate, as per my believe only imbibing theoretical skills and less focus on practical skills not only depresses children's early-stage growth but also may create hindrance for their future achievement when they actually try to compete with the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The student presents a clear position throughout the essay, strongly agreeing that education spends too much time on facts rather than practical skills. All parts of the prompt are addressed, and the response is supported with relevant ideas and examples, such as mentioning stage fright and contrasting educational outcomes. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or lack fully elaborated empirical backing, such as the unsupported references to specific 2025 survey reports. The development is generally good, but deeper exploration of specific examples would elevate the task response. Overall, the requirements for Band 6.5 or a solid Band 6 are fully satisfied, showing clear ideas and position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from the introduction, through two body paragraphs, to a clear conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'To recapitulate', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or formulaic. Referencing and referencing links are generally clear, although occasional phrasing makes the logical links slightly bumpy. Overall, the organizational structure meets the criteria for Band 6.0, providing an easy-to-follow flow despite minor mechanical cohesive usages.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'moulding point', 'profound knowledge', and 'imbalanced education system'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Many individuals' with an unnecessary capital letter, 'my believe' instead of 'my belief', and 'verbal and demonstration skills' rather than oral or presentation skills. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0, as the vocabulary control shows occasional inaccuracies and awkward phrasings.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures like conditional and relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, including capitalization errors ('Many individuals', 'North indian', 'south indian'), subject-verb agreement issues, and awkward phrasing such as 'students' minds need presentation to enhance their grasping power'. While these errors occasionally demand reader re-reading, they rarely impede overall communication. The frequency and nature of these inaccuracies place the essay firmly at Band 6.0 for grammatical range and accuracy.
