Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people say that in all levels of education, from primary schools to universities, too much time is spent on learning facts and not enough on learning practical skills. The institutins make the students read the books that are full of theories rather than teaching them basic practical skills like sharing, so-responding and many others. In todays's world people try to solve all the problems or things in their life with the theories they have learned from their institution, whereas practical skills are also equally required in all the aspects.

I partially agree with this statement as both facts and practical skills are important to overcome any situation in life.

Learning facts make a person smart as we know all the pros and cons of anything whereas practical skills help to implement those facts smoothly in our daily life.

For example, If we want to get a job, we study all the courses about the job and feils we want to work in. But when we get hired, the employer wants you to have practical skills as well . This is the reason the employers ask their staff to get training before starting the work indivisually. This means both of the skills go hand by hand.

According to me, the institutions should change the curriculum and try to focud on teaching both theories and practical skills . These both skills togetherly help us work through all the aspects of life. Institutions should make both of these compulsary to pass their semesters.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position and discussing both sides of the issue regarding facts versus practical skills in education. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the need for theoretical knowledge for employment contrasted with the practical training required by employers. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack extension. For instance, the mention of 'sharing, so-responding' in the introduction is not fully explored or connected to the main arguments. The overall progression is visible, but the arguments would benefit from further elaboration and more specific examples to fully satisfy the higher level of extended and supported ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction, moving through supportive body paragraphs to a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the introduction, body arguments, and concluding thoughts, although some paragraph breaks could be better managed. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example' and 'This means', but the referencing is occasionally mechanical or unclear, such as the abrupt transition between sentences in the second body paragraph. While the flow of ideas is generally understandable, the logical progression between sentences occasionally falters, resulting in a somewhat disjointed reading experience that prevents a higher evaluation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic arguments about education and employment. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'curriculum', 'compulsary', and 'indivisually', but these are accompanied by noticeable spelling and word choice errors. Typos and misspellings like 'institutins', 'todays's', 'feils', and 'togetherly' occur throughout the text. Additionally, some phrasing is awkward or unnatural, such as 'solve all the problems or things in their life with the theories'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occasionally cause minor strain for the reader, fitting well within the criteria for this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional-style reasoning and relative clauses, as seen in 'we study all the courses about the job and feils we want to work in.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('If we want to get a job'), preposition use, and minor agreement issues. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede overall communication. The punctuation is generally functional, and simple sentences are mostly accurate, reflecting a control over basic grammatical structures while showing emerging complexity.
