Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think that more time spent on learning facts throughout their tenure from schools to universities rather than enough time on learning the skills which are important practically. I partially disagree with this statement because skills are more significant and require more time to develop this and have greater role in practical life as well. However, both are significant.
On one hand, I believe that practical abilities are playing paramount role in every field and it takes greater amount of time to build these techniques. Furthermore, In all level of education more time should spent on gaining these skills rather than greater focus on learning facts. For example, the good healthcare professional have spent more time on learning their proficiencies like a surgeon along with facts also have to pay greater attention and focus on learning their hands on surgical techniques.
On the other hand, I think that learning of both facts, knowledge and talent have crucial for everyone in every department. In primary schools more focus should be on learning of facts and knowledge. However, in their graduation or university period impose larger focus on learning of abilities but both are necessary. Moreover, initially students gain knowledge or learns facts and than along with this they also encourages to gain skills. For instance, in a doctorate degree students have to study course books or fact till their third year, during this year clinical rotation is also starts to learn good practical skills.
In conclusion, I believe that both are necessary but a little bit more time should spent on learning the skills because people takes more time on learning abilities however, along with this the knowledge is also play an important role to do these skills practically.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position, stating that the writer partially disagrees with the prompt. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the importance of practical abilities in fields like medicine, and the recognition that factual knowledge is also necessary. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, the argument regarding primary education versus university studies is somewhat repetitive and lacks deeper extension. While the main stance is clear throughout the essay, the support and examples could be elaborated further to fully explore both sides of the argument in greater depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at logical progression. The response is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing a clear structure. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with transitional devices and referencing that do not always flow smoothly. For instance, phrases like 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but sentences within the paragraphs can feel disjointed due to awkward referencing and a lack of smooth lexical transitions between ideas. Paragraphing is present and separates the main points, but internal cohesion requires better linking to elevate the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a minimally sufficient range to discuss the topic. The writer attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'paramount role', 'proficiencies', and 'clinical rotation', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'learning of facts throughout their tenure' and 'impose larger focus'. There are also some minor word-form issues like 'talent have crucial' instead of 'crucial'. While these lexical errors and awkward phrasings do not seriously impede overall communication, they prevent the vocabulary from achieving greater precision and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as subordinate clauses with 'because' and 'although'. However, there are several errors in grammar and sentence structure throughout the text, including tense consistency issues, missing articles, and subject-verb agreement problems, such as 'time should spent', 'all level of education', and 'people takes more time'. Despite these recurring mistakes in grammatical patterns and prepositions, the meaning remains mostly clear and the errors rarely impede communication, reflecting a typical intermediate control of sentence structures.
