Student answer (Band 5.5)

Education play a very crucial role in the development of individual and society. some people believe that in all levels of education, student s should leanr or spent more time on learning facts instead of learning practical skills. however I am disagree with this. I will give my explanation in following passage.

Firstly, in all the levels of education from primary to universities, if students only leanr or focused on learning facts instead of practical skills they will only be best in the theory not with the reality. By this I means, if learner know the facts of anything or having a lot of knowledge of any concept but donot know how to goes practically means in reality. For instance, their is a science student who know the theory or facts about the any concept of lab science how it goes but when the learner enter in the lab he will never know how to do the test like he do not know how the test is conductioing in lab because he never do practicle and have no practical skills. So, it is very important to be focus on learning practical skills also.

Additionally, learning practical skills can make learners more creative as well as enhance their critical thinking. To elaborate this, if students learn facts about any concept in the art class they need to do it in practical way means they know what is drawing or how to make or draw map their all concepts with theory are clear but they will not learn it until they draw or do it by themself.

To conclude, learning practical skills are as important as learning facts in all levels of school from primary school to universities so they increase their critical thinking and make more creative.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree with prioritising factual learning over practical skills, and the response stays focused on the question. The science-laboratory example supports your point that theoretical knowledge alone may not prepare students to carry out a task. You also introduce a second relevant benefit—creativity and critical thinking—through the art example. However, the two arguments are not developed equally: the science example is explained in more detail, while the art point is brief and its link to critical thinking is not fully shown. The introduction also paraphrases the issue in a way that suggests people favour facts, rather than stating that they believe too much time is spent on them. Clarify this distinction and extend each reason with a specific outcome or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Additionally,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from the limits of theory to the benefits of practical learning, so the overall arrangement is coherent. Some linking is mechanical, however, and repeated phrases such as “By this I means” and “To elaborate this” do not always make the relationship between ideas clear. The long science example also contains several points joined together, which makes the explanation harder to follow. Use clearer sentence boundaries and refer back to ideas precisely—for example, explain directly how laboratory practice complements scientific facts. A more developed second body paragraph would also make the progression more balanced.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “practical skills,” “theory,” “critical thinking,” and “creative,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as “lab science” and “conducting” a test. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, spelling, and word-form errors make parts of the response difficult to interpret, including “how to goes practically,” “their is,” and “do practicle.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “all their concepts with theory are clear.” Build a more accurate set of education-related expressions and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the contrast between knowing a concept and applying it.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if students only…,” and you use clauses to explain examples. This shows some range, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “Education play” needs subject–verb agreement, “I am disagree” uses an incorrect verb pattern, and “if learner know” has agreement and article problems. The sentence beginning “By this I means” also becomes difficult to follow because its clauses are not controlled clearly. These errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning, although the overall argument remains understandable. Practise forming accurate conditional sentences and divide long explanations into shorter sentences, checking each for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
