Student answer (Band 5.0)

A different perspectives of people about education, others think that education is a waste of time learning factual information rathen than developing practical skills. Others view that academics are important for children to learn about the world. In my opinion, I believe that education from primary schools to universities are essential to learn how our world works. Although education must give time to learn skills that students can possess throughout their education.

On the one hand, many people believe that education is the key to sucess, because they will have knowledge that they can use to find good opportunities, such as career, that will help them to become successful in life. This knowledge is something we possess, we are aware about everything because we are educated. For example, students who finished education tend to land easy but not demanding jobs, and they can negotiate about salary, if they think it is not fair. While others usually land to demanding jobs and not fair compensation. Nevertheless, individuals who did not finish school tend to have good practical skills.

On the other hand, while others believe that education is a waste of time learning facts. A possible reason might be their experiences. Instead of pursuing education, they prefer to work that results to having practical skills. University is quite expensive, so almost every individual chose to be practical and earn a salary. Even though they chosen to learn practical skills, such as collaborating with colleagues and experience handling professional tasks, I think that they still learned something from their earlier education and they are still learning through their experiences.

In conclusion, I believe that despite finished or unfinished education, both have learned different skills. Nevertheless, even we think that education is really powerful to success. We can still consider learning practical skills because this is also special, especially in today's world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the education-versus-practical-skills topic and give a general position: education is important, but practical skills also matter. The examples about career opportunities, university costs, and learning through work are relevant. However, the position is not fully clear: the opening says education is essential, while the conclusion gives similar weight to both forms of learning without directly stating whether you agree that schools spend too much time on facts. Several points are also under-developed. For instance, the claim that educated students find “easy but not demanding jobs” is not clearly explained or connected to learning facts. State your degree of agreement directly, then support it with specific examples of what education should teach and how practical learning could be included.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and the contrast between academic learning and practical skills gives it some organisation. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the structure. However, the progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph moves from knowledge and careers to job demands and compensation, then to practical skills, without showing how these points connect. The second paragraph also repeats the idea that education is a waste of time rather than developing the argument. Some transitions, including “Nevertheless” and “Even though,” do not clearly express the relationship between the ideas. Organise each paragraph around one main claim and use clearer references between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “practical skills,” “career,” “salary,” “collaborating with colleagues,” and “professional tasks.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “a different perspectives,” “land easy but not demanding jobs,” “aware about everything,” and “powerful to success.” Spelling errors such as “sucess” and “rathen” are also noticeable. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Build a bank of accurate education-related phrases and check whether verbs naturally combine with their objects; for example, use “gain practical experience” or “secure employment” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although,” “because,” and “while.” This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “education from primary schools to universities are essential,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “Even though they chosen,” which has an incorrect verb form. The opening fragment, “A different perspectives of people about education,” also lacks a complete grammatical structure. Articles, plurals, and sentence construction need more consistent control. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review agreement and verb forms before adding subordinate clauses.
