Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, education plays a vital role in society. It is often argued that students are devoting their considerable time and energy to theoretical subjects rather than gaining soft skills. After examine, this essay will articulate my fully agreement views on ongoing in the upcoming paragraphs.

Commencing with the most salient fact that how educational institutions are insisting students to enroll in theoretical education. In recent years, education system have soley focus on flourishing knowledge about written facts. There are ample of school subjects which holds theoretical information rather than any skills such as history, geograghy and many more. Thus, students have to obtain information to attain high marks in class rather than enhancing their knowledge. Owing to this, scholars have to engage in root learning methods to cope up with high competition in education system. Ultimately they fail to acquire practical skills which facilitate them in their job career.

Furthermore, another dominant reason is the current way of learning has been happening from the past. Since traditional method of learning has been popular among educators, it is arduous to make amendments in the education system. As, it requires a quality of time and endeavours to replace this mechanism. Therefore, academic structure follows old methods and are avoiding teaching practical skills in the school curriculum. On the other hand, days are gone when individuals were able to become successful without practical skills. Nowadays it has become crucial to add soft skills in schools pattern to secure future jobs. For instance, knowledge of artifical intelligence not only can get through books but requires hand skills to go with this.

To conclude, it has been outlined that theoretical knowledge is still popular in colleges and universities due to it's easier accessbility from written materials. On the other hand practical skills require plenty of time for learning and a big chunk of money to establishing in colleges. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you agree that education gives too much attention to theoretical knowledge and insufficient attention to practical skills. You address the issue across education and explain relevant causes, including exam-focused learning and the persistence of traditional methods. The example of artificial intelligence also supports your point that some abilities require hands-on practice. These features make the response relevant and purposeful. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the list of theoretical subjects does not show how their teaching could be balanced with practical learning, and the cost point in the conclusion is not developed earlier. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each main reason and give a more specific example of a practical skill taught in school or university.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally progress from exam-focused teaching to traditional methods and the need for practical skills. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Therefore” and “To conclude” help signal this progression. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For instance, “On the other hand” introduces a point that largely supports your position rather than contrasting with the preceding sentence. The conclusion also introduces the cost of practical education without preparing this point in the body. Use transitions according to the actual relationship between ideas, and make each paragraph develop one central point with clearer links between its explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “theoretical subjects,” “practical skills,” “traditional method” and “education system,” and the main meaning is usually understandable. There are also some less common expressions, such as “salient fact” and “arduous,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. Examples include “root learning methods” for rote learning, “a quality of time” for a considerable amount of time, and “job career.” Spelling errors such as “geograghy,” “soley” and “artifical” also affect the impression of control. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than formal-sounding phrases, and proofread spelling. More precise vocabulary would help you express the argument with less repetition and greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “Since” and “Although,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors recur in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “education system have” needs subject–verb agreement, while “After examine” requires a different verb form and sentence structure. In “academic structure follows old methods and are avoiding,” the subject and verb do not agree. The final sentence also has problems in “it is expensive and require” and “to establishing.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, especially when joining clauses, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas.
