Student answer (Band 4.0)
It is often argued that in current educational system main consideration is given to academic learning. While some people support this idea, others argue that it is also important to learn practical skills for students. I strongly argee with the later view beause it encorages people to understand the core concepts easily and help them in their future. This essay will discuss how vocational education assist learners to better settle down in their work places and make the more competitive.
There are compelling reasons for learning skills during education. Most impotantly,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
Your position is identifiable: you agree that practical skills deserve more attention, and you introduce two relevant benefits—helping learners understand concepts and preparing them for workplaces. However, the response does not develop these points or provide the reasons and relevant examples the task asks for. The final sentence, “There are compelling reasons for learning skills during education. Most importantly,” is unfinished, so the main argument is not explained. The response also does not meaningfully compare practical learning with the time spent learning facts. The required minimum length is not met, leaving the task substantially incomplete. To improve, explain each reason with a specific example and complete the essay with a clear conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening paragraph states a position and previews workplace preparation, followed by the start of a body paragraph. Linking phrases such as “While” and “Most importantly” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression stops almost immediately, and the second paragraph ends mid-thought, so the reader cannot follow a complete line of argument. The introduction also promises discussion of two benefits, but neither is subsequently developed. Build a clear sequence of introduction, developed supporting paragraphs, and conclusion; use linking expressions to show how each example supports your position, rather than leaving signposts without the ideas they introduce.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “academic learning,” “practical skills,” “vocational education,” and “core concepts,” which makes your general subject clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “There are compelling reasons.” However, spelling errors—including “argee,” “beause,” “encorages,” and “impotantly”—are noticeable, and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “settle down in their work places” and “make the more competitive.” The short response also provides little evidence of a broader range of vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and choose precise collocations, for example, “prepare learners for the workplace” and “make them more competitive in the job market.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes both simple and more complex sentence forms. For example, “While some people support this idea, others argue…” attempts a subordinate clause, and “I strongly agree…” communicates a clear position. However, control is uneven. In “in current educational system,” the article is missing; “help them in their future” does not fit smoothly with the surrounding structure; and “make the more competitive” has an unclear pronoun reference and sentence construction. The final body sentence is incomplete, ending with “Most importantly,” and therefore does not form a complete grammatical thought. Aim to write complete sentences, check articles and pronoun references, and proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
