Student answer (Band 6.0)

Education is the basic necessity for everyone. Every student spends approximately six hours a day in the schools, colleges or universities. Few people think that education is not as much as relevant to the practical skills. This can be applicable for higher education students, but for the primary and secondary students learning facts could be benificial.

The reason behind teaching the facts instead of relevant practical skills is that institutes have to follow the syllabus which is provided by the authorities. Primary and secondary students are unable to decide which practical skill should they choose. That is why schools focus on diversified education along with ethics. For instance, If the students of the schools are distributed in relevant skills groups, someone wants to switch the fields from medical to engineering. it will be quite difficuilt to change the field in university as he or she would not be familier with the maths.

However, spending more time on learning facts instead relevant skills during bachelors or masters is not justified. Those four years should be strictly relevant to the dicipline. For example, The universities are offering Basic Electronics in the Civil Engineering. Instead, business and project management courses should be introduce in the program. As a result, these courses will help students in practical lives.

In my opinion, teaching facts is benificial to the students on initial levels such as in schools or colleges. However, It is only a distraction for those students who they are studing techincal skills in universities such as Enginnering, MBBS, CA or ACCA. Government and authorities should start awareness campaigns in the universities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: facts are useful in the early years, while university courses should give more attention to practical, discipline-related skills. You address both sides of this distinction and support it with examples, such as students changing from medicine to engineering and the inclusion of Basic Electronics in Civil Engineering. This gives the response a relevant, reasoned basis. The discussion is not equally developed throughout, however: the point about primary and secondary students is explained more fully than the claim that university study should be “strictly relevant” to a discipline. The suggestion of awareness campaigns is also not clearly connected to the proposed change in course content. Develop the benefits and limits of practical learning more explicitly to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: the introduction presents your position, the body paragraphs contrast school-level and university education, and the conclusion restates your view. Linking expressions such as “That is why,” “For instance,” and “However” help signal relationships between ideas. At times, though, the progression is less clear or cohesion feels mechanical. For example, the shift from the example about changing fields to “it will be quite difficult” needs clearer reference, and the final recommendation about government awareness campaigns appears without preparation. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main claim, and connect examples directly to that claim. Clearer referencing and a more purposeful conclusion would strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “syllabus,” “ethics,” “discipline,” and “project management,” which helps communicate your ideas about education. Some less common terms are attempted, but word choice and collocation are not always natural: “basic necessity,” “diversified education,” and “practical lives” do not express your intended meanings precisely. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “benificial,” “difficuilt,” “familier,” and “dicipline.” These generally do not prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy and polish. Build a reliable set of education-related collocations and check spelling carefully; choosing familiar, precise wording is more effective than using an ambitious phrase inaccurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“The reason behind teaching the facts… is that…”) and a conditional example (“If the students… are distributed…”). The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “which practical skill should they choose” has incorrect word order in an indirect question, while “courses should be introduce” uses the wrong verb form. In “those students who they are studing,” the relative clause is incorrectly formed, and “Instead relevant practical skills” is missing a grammatical link. Review indirect questions, relative clauses, verb forms after modal verbs, and sentence punctuation. More consistent control of these patterns would make your argument easier to follow.
