Student answer (Band 6.0)

The education system of our country is limited to books only. Most of the people think that pupils spent a lot of time in learning books rather than gaining some practical skills during basic to higher level of their studies. This essay will delineate my agreement and resaons that support my viewpoint.

First and foremost, our curriculum is designed in such a way that give no or very less opportunity to students to perform practically. It comprises of such informations which are for learning only. Furthermore, examination system has a key role in this process which demands from them to learn and write concepts on the paper if they want to get good marks. A very small percentage is fixed for practical exam. Hence, students do not focus on it.

Moreover, there are very few schools and colleges with fully furnished laboratories. Mostly at school level, there are no science and computer labs and students are bound to memorize those concepts which they have to learnt through experiments. Due to these facts, they are not able to understand things properly and find subjects rather tough. They even do not get basic information about their surrounding and are not able to resolve very simple issues, when they enter in practical life.

To conclude, there should be equal importance of learning and practical process. So, the students not only moemorize things but have some practical information about the facts which they have learnt. It will be beneficial in future. That's why we have a need to work on it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you agree that education gives too much attention to facts and too little to practical learning. You address the issue through relevant points about curricula, examinations and limited access to laboratories, and explain consequences such as students struggling to understand concepts or solve everyday problems. These examples make the response relevant and show the beginnings of a well-supported argument. However, some claims remain broad—for example, that most schools lack science and computer labs—and the essay does not develop a specific example or explain how practical learning could be incorporated in different education levels. The conclusion restates your view but adds little. More precise evidence and fuller development of one or two points would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from curriculum and assessment to facilities and their effects is logical, and signposts such as “First and foremost,” “Moreover” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. This gives the essay coherent organisation. At times, however, the linking feels formulaic, and some connections between claims could be made more explicit. For instance, the move from limited laboratories to students being unable to resolve everyday issues would benefit from a clearer explanation of the steps between them. The final paragraph repeats the central point rather than drawing the reasons together. Use referencing and transitions more naturally, and make each paragraph’s main idea and supporting explanation connect closely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to education, including “curriculum,” “examination system,” “practical skills,” “laboratories” and “memorize,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “support my viewpoint.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, including “limited to books only,” “perform practically,” “fully furnished laboratories” and “practical process.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “resaons,” “moemorize” and “informations” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “book-based learning,” “gain hands-on experience” and “well-equipped laboratories.” More precise vocabulary, checked for spelling and collocation, would make the argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional clause in “if they want to get good marks” and a result clause beginning “Due to these facts.” This gives some variety, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “curriculum is designed in such a way that give” needs a subject–verb agreement correction, while “concepts which they have to learnt” has an incorrect verb form. “There should be equal importance” is also an awkward grammatical construction, and the final sentence beginning “That’s why” is not well integrated with the preceding sentence. Practise accurate clause construction and review agreement and verb patterns; greater control would make your complex sentences more reliable.
