Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear sir,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am just writing to let you know about the importance of recreational centers for the local community and its significant impact on mundane activities.
In the past, there is no such place in our area for every kind of adult age to keep them busy and perform their daily tasks collaboratively. Now we immensely enjoy having recreational centers for indulging part-time activities. Even our geriatrics make best use of their experience and capabilities out of the place in such environment. Some mothers even take their children along them for catharsis. We perform different gymnastics like swimming, badminton and exercise under well trained mentorship for healthy mind and body.
We perform 9 to 7 and need a place to rush off all the hindrances. It's crucial to have such environment where we can exhale all the negativities and relax with positive mind, ultimately boost our energy and metabolism.
However, it would be a great loss if the center closes because different genres again stuck on their social media for time pass. For instance, children will never develop social cohesion and collaboration for healthy activities. Similarly, adult one will indulge in health comorbidities like anxiety, depression and insomnia.
I hope you would give hands on such problem for humanity.
Looking forward to having a positive response.
Yours sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task. You described how you use the centre (swimming, badminton, exercise), explained its importance for community health, and outlined the negative effects of closure. However, some ideas are slightly underdeveloped or expressed in a confusing manner, such as the phrase 'mundane activities' or the reference to 'geriatrics' and 'genres'. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is occasionally inconsistent with a formal letter to a local council. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more clearly linked to the specific context of the sports centre and use more precise language to describe the community benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However', 'For instance', and 'Similarly', to connect your ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing 'mothers' to '9 to 7' work schedules lacks a smooth thematic bridge. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary, attempting to use more sophisticated terms like 'cohesion', 'comorbidities', and 'mentorship'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice or incorrect collocation that hinder precision. For example, 'genres' is used incorrectly to refer to people, and 'exhale all the negativities' is not a standard idiomatic expression in this context. Additionally, 'rush off all the hindrances' is unclear. While your meaning is generally understandable, the vocabulary lacks the natural control and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'In the past, there is no such place' (tense error), 'take their children along them' (preposition error), and 'adult one will indulge' (pluralization error). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage for past and future scenarios, and refining the use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences will also help boost your score.
