Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my concern regarding the possible effect on local people if the community centre remains closed. Since summer has been started, me and my family enjoys doing fun and physical activities actively. We prefer to spend our leisure time in city centre. In addition, local community members and their children expecting to spend their time in the centre which can improve the physical and mental health of an individual. As a result, children, youngsters and elderly adults can suffer isolation and will not get chance to work on their physical health. In this fast paced world, it is equally important to focus on physical health. Also, for children and teenagers to build their strength and improve skills in their interested sport.
I would kindly like to request you to please keep the community centre open throughout the summer including weekends.
I am looking forward ti hearing from you.
Faithfully
Jenesiyaa

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You mentioned how your family uses the centre, explained its importance for community health, and described the negative effects of its closure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why the centre is important is quite brief, and the description of the effects of closure could be more detailed to fully explore the impact on the community. To reach a higher band, try to expand on your points with specific examples or more detailed reasoning to provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from your personal usage to the broader community impact and finally to your request. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'As a result', and 'Also' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire body of the letter is presented as one block of text. Breaking your response into distinct paragraphs for each bullet point would significantly improve the structure and readability of your letter. Additionally, some transitions feel slightly mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'physical and mental health', 'isolation', and 'fast paced world'. However, the range is somewhat limited and there are minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'Since summer has been started' (should be 'Since the summer started') and 'interested sport' (should be 'sport of interest'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of descriptive language related to community services.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'me and my family enjoys' (should be 'my family and I enjoy'), 'children... expecting to spend' (should be 'children... are expected to spend'), and 'looking forward ti hearing' (should be 'looking forward to hearing'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of your writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency will help improve your score.
