Write a letter to the local council. In your letter

• give details of how you and your friends or family use the centre
• explain why the sports and leisure centre is important for the local community
• describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to ask you to reconsider your decision to close the city centre.

Every local citizen uses it on a regular basis. I go to exercise regularly, and my friends play basketball twice a week, and currently some of them are competing at the national level. My parents often spend their time with my niece in the children's playground.

One of the main reasons behind its significance is entertainment. People visit the city centre to watch movies and spend quality time with their loved ones. Moreover, the local government organizes an annual local cricket tournament in the city centre.

The health of local people can be affected by your decision as they may prefer not to go somewhere far to do physical activities. The gaming area, swimming pool and cinema are used to take a break from busy schedules to relax. But, if the local centre closes it can negatively affect their mental and physical health.
