Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain how you and your family use the centre, why it is important for the community, and the negative consequences of its closure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the impact on local people is described in general terms, such as 'children will lost their interest in sports'. To achieve a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or elaborate further on the consequences, such as the loss of a social hub or the impact on physical health trends in the area. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a council.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, you rely heavily on 'and' to connect ideas, and there is a lack of transition words to link your arguments logically (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'If you close this stadium it's impact on people very much', where the structure is fragmented and lacks a clear logical flow. Improving the use of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You frequently use basic words like 'important', 'help full' (which should be 'helpful'), and 'very'. There are also some spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'tother' instead of 'together' and 'lost' instead of 'lose'. To improve, try to incorporate more specific vocabulary related to community services and health, such as 'recreational facility', 'sedentary lifestyle', or 'social cohesion'. While your meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement ('my mother always come their' should be 'comes there') and incorrect verb forms ('children will lost' should be 'children will lose'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization of 'i'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
