Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You mentioned how your family uses the centre, explained its importance for the community, and described the negative effects of its closure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your son and father use the centre, providing more specific details about the activities they engage in would have strengthened the response. Similarly, the impact of the closure could be expanded upon with more concrete examples of how it would affect the social fabric of the area. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a local council.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'This centre', 'If this centre closes', and 'Looking forward to'. However, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical, and the use of linking words is limited. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Paragraphing is used correctly, which helps the reader follow your argument. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'residents', 'leisure activity', and 'well-being'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'have encouraged healthy lifestyle' (should be 'has encouraged a healthy lifestyle') and 'This centre has foster' (should be 'has fostered'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, relying on simple descriptors. To reach a higher band, aim to use more precise collocations and a broader range of topic-specific vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'This is Aakansha Chauhan a resident' lacks punctuation, and 'Wherease, leisure centre' is an incorrect use of a linking word. There are also subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'This centre... have encouraged'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will help improve your accuracy.
