Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I would like to inform you that me and my friends visit the centre in the evening to play badminton over there. As, the centre has a lot of space which includes a private washrooms, a swimming pool and a small gym which we love to have in the centre.
I think it is indispensable for the local community in many ways as they can bring their children to play games and do many extracurricular activities which is beneficial for their health. The kids can also become more active and creative by having those things in the centre. Many local people also get the opportunity to play sports like cricket and basketball in their leisure time. Additionally, the centre is open for everyone without any charges and in front of the centre, the parking lot is spacious which allow people to park their car.
If the centre closes, many people will not do extracurricular activities and also they will not do any activities with their family members.
I look forward to hearing from you
Yours Faithfully,
XYZ

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain how you use the centre, why it is important, and the potential consequences of its closure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of the effects of closure is quite brief and repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific details or examples. For example, instead of saying people will not do activities, you could mention the impact on physical health or the loss of a social hub for the elderly or youth in the neighbourhood.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'If the centre closes', which help the flow of ideas. However, the paragraphing is not fully effective; the second paragraph is quite long and covers multiple distinct points, while the third paragraph is very short. Improving the balance of your paragraphs and using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'on the other hand') would help to create a more professional and cohesive tone.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'indispensable', 'extracurricular', and 'spacious'. However, there are some errors in word choice and collocation. For example, you wrote 'a private washrooms' (should be 'private washrooms') and 'do any activities' (a more natural collocation would be 'participate in activities'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—to make your writing sound more natural and sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'me and my friends visit' (should be 'my friends and I'), 'a private washrooms' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'which allow people' (should be 'which allows'). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as the unnecessary comma after 'As' in the first paragraph. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of your writing. Focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage.
