Write a letter to the local council. In your letter

• give details of how you and your friends or family use the centre
• explain why the sports and leisure centre is important for the local community
• describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my gratitude for proving the people of Cumilla a well functioning sports and leisure centre. Previously, this centre was unorganised. But the new council committee has improved the centre in all aspects.

Every evening my friends and I visit the centre to play table tennis. The air-conditioning system has been repaired; and as a result the temperature is comfortable now. In addition, new lights have been installed in different locations which were dark previously. Now the whole room is adequately lit.

Sports and leisure centre is a palace where people of all age go to spend time and bond with other people. It has provided an opportunity especially to older people to do some exercise and communicate with others.

As you know, we don't have any sports and leisure centre in our town. If the centre closes than we won't have any were to go for exercise and for healthy recreation.

I would hope that more facilities will be provided in future.
