Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear, The local council
Hello, i hope you are doing well. I am writing you this letter to inform you that how much crucial are the local Centre. The local community is very important in every cities because people can spent their leisure time at local community Centre.
According to me, The sport and leisure Centre is very crucial for the local community just because teenagers spend their leisure time by playing sport activities such as badminton, cricket, also they can learn swimming at the local Centre.
In addition to that, older people can also explore the local Centre during their leisure time with their friends. For example, during free time me and my friends or family members go to park or recreational Centre to spend some time together. Even if the local Centre are closes it could be affected for people's life in many ways such as in winter or monsoon season people always choose to spend their time with family at the local community Centre.
Thank you so much for your understanding and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing how you use the centre, explaining its importance, and discussing the effects of its closure. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention that teenagers use the centre for sports, the explanation of the effects of closure is a bit repetitive and lacks specific detail. To improve, try to expand on your ideas with more concrete examples or personal anecdotes to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7 or higher. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening salutation was slightly incorrect.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition to that' and 'For example' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and some mechanical use of transitions. The opening 'Dear, The local council' is not standard; it should be 'Dear Sir or Madam' as requested. To improve, ensure that your sentences flow more naturally into one another and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific vocabulary such as 'recreational Centre', 'leisure time', and 'local community'. However, there are some word choice errors, such as 'crucial are the local Centre' (should be 'is') and 'it could be affected for people's life' (should be 'it would affect people's lives'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your word forms are accurate in different sentence structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of your writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the local Centre are closes') and incorrect word order ('how much crucial are the local Centre'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent throughout the letter. Proofreading for these common errors will help you achieve a higher score.
