Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: usage of the center, its importance to the community, and the consequences of closure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why the center is important is brief, and the description of the effects of closure is slightly repetitive and lacks specific detail. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a council, although the opening 'Dear sir' is slightly informal compared to the expected 'Dear Sir or Madam'. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or consequences to demonstrate a more thorough engagement with the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'I am writing this letter'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is a bit mechanical. For example, the transition between discussing the cafeteria and the importance of the center is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions smoothly into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points clearly. You use some relevant terms such as 'extracurricular activities', 'amenities', and 'rejuvenate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'me and my closed ones' (should be 'my family and I' or 'my close friends and I') and 'subscription of the center' (membership fee). There are also minor errors in word form, such as 'this activities can also plays'. Expanding your range of collocations and refining your word choice will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('this activities can also plays'), incorrect pronoun usage ('me and my closed ones'), and awkward phrasing ('if it closed it's affected many people's routine'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
