Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt. You described your personal use of the centre, explained its importance to the community, and touched upon the consequences of its closure. However, the third point regarding the 'possible effects on local people' is somewhat underdeveloped. While you mention that the centre helps people stay active and social, you do not explicitly detail the negative impact of its closure, such as the loss of a safe space or the potential decline in community health. To reach a higher band, ensure each bullet point is fully explored with specific consequences or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that,' 'Consequently,' and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more refined. For instance, the second paragraph blends personal experience with general community benefits, which could be separated for better clarity. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences occasionally feels a bit repetitive due to the structure of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'profound impact,' 'pivotal role,' and 'ready-to-go spot.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'social people' (which should be 'socially active people' or 'socially engaged') and 'leisure centre is become' (a grammatical error affecting lexical precision). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the collocations are sometimes slightly unnatural. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to community services would help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'leisure centre hold' should be 'the leisure centre holds,' and 'it help them' should be 'it helps them.' Additionally, there are issues with article usage (e.g., 'in the sports centres' vs 'in sports centres'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles.
