Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you in good spirits.
I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for having such a fantastic facilities in town for the local community. My friends and I, have been using this the leisure center 5 days a week and we always have fun there.
Having the recreational centre in our area is indeed important as, it allows every group of people to not only enjoy playing in-door sports but also, give a chance to learn new sports under the facilities of professional trainer and athletes. Moreover, it creates a part-time earning platform specifically, for student who can get earn by teaching elders and children.
It is necessary for the center to be open and available for the local people in town because, many younger who are only relay on the facilities to do the practice as they are no other in nearby area. As a result, we may have to travel roughly an hour to use the sports centre of neotheropod town in which, they do have to spend extra money in getting new membership.
We are always grateful for the local authority to provide useful facilities and we obviously do not wish to get close as it may create a bigger problem in our day to day life.
Best regards,
Kishan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The student covers all parts of the prompt well. For the first bullet point, the writer mentions that 'My friends and I, have been using this the leisure center 5 days a week'. For the second bullet point, the importance is explained through community benefits, stating that 'it allows every group of people to not only enjoy playing in-door sports but also, give a chance to learn new sports'. Finally, for the third bullet point, the candidate describes the possible effects of closure, noting that residents 'may have to travel roughly an hour to use the sports centre' and incur extra membership costs. All bullet points are addressed with relevant and extended ideas, earning a solid Band 7.0 for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a clear logical organization with an appropriate opening and closing. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate different aspects of the prompt, such as usage, importance, and potential consequences. Cohesive devices are employed, including transition words like 'Moreover' and 'As a result'. However, some referencing and cohesion feel a bit mechanical or faulty, such as 'use the sports centre of neotheropod town in which, they do have to spend extra money', where the pronoun reference is slightly unclear. Overall, the progression is clear throughout, aligning well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'recreational centre', 'professional trainer', and 'part-time earning platform'. There are, however, several noticeable lexical and spelling errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'fantastic facilities' (disagreement with article 'a'), 'in-door' (hyphenation/spelling), 'many younger who are only relay on' (incorrect word form for 'youngsters' and misspelling of 'rely'), and 'get close' instead of 'close down'. These errors do not impede overall communication, placing the response securely in Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambitious structures such as 'It is necessary for the center to be open and available for the local people in town because, many younger who are only relay on...'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent punctuation errors involving unnecessary commas (e.g., 'My friends and I, have', 'specifically, for student'), subject-verb agreement issues ('student who can get earn'), and morphological mistakes. While the meaning remains mostly clear, the accumulation of grammatical errors restricts the score to a Band 5.5.
