Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing this letter to express the importance of lesiure centre which is named as 'Bradford west Gwillimbury Leisure Centre'.
It is quite spacious building, which is fully euipped with all kinds of equipments. In the evenings, my all friends and family member use it to spend their spare time. Me and my friends use this area to play bollyball and others prefer to sit in the library area in order to get knowledge.
It is the centre of attraction for everyone. Instead of this, this is the only place where we all can do get to together. It is neccessary for local community to stay active and healthy. As a reason, there is a nice gym where most of youths come for doing excercise.
But, after shutting down of this centre, local people will feel disappointment from local council. It can put negative impact on them. This is thre place which helps to individuals to stay from bad habits and they indulge themselves in doing physical activities.
I hope you will understand local community's needs and you will take it again into your consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Anju Pal.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The candidate addresses all parts of the task prompt clearly. You provide specific details of how you and your friends use the centre, such as playing volleyball and using the library. You also explain its importance to the local community by highlighting how it promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, you describe the possible effects of its closure, including local disappointment, negative impacts, and the risk that people might fall back into bad habits without physical activities. Your ideas are relevant and well-developed for a General Training letter format, maintaining an appropriate tone and purpose throughout. The task is fully satisfied according to the band 7 descriptors, as all bullet points are clearly covered and supported with relevant explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as usage details, community importance, and the consequences of closure. Cohesive devices are employed, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical or basic, such as 'Instead of this' and 'As a reason'. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall progression guides the reader smoothly through your arguments, aligning well with the band 6.5 to 7.0 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'spacious', 'indulgences', and 'disappointment'. However, there are notable spelling errors and awkward word choices, such as 'lesiure' instead of 'leisure', 'euipped' instead of 'equipped', 'bollyball' instead of 'volleyball', and 'neccessary' instead of 'necessary'. Phrases like 'my all friends and family member' and 'do get to together' also show minor inaccuracies in collocation and phrasing. These errors do not impede communication, placing your lexical control firmly at band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses such as 'which is fully equipped' and 'which helps to individuals'. However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies, particularly regarding prepositions and articles, such as 'stay from bad habits' instead of 'stay away from bad habits', 'for doing excercise' instead of 'to exercise', and 'This is thre place' with a typo. You also have issues with redundant words, as seen in 'my all friends'. While your meaning remains clear, the accumulation of grammatical slips prevents you from reaching a higher band, making 6.0 an accurate reflection of your grammatical control.
