Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, though the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. You successfully provide details of how your family uses the centre by mentioning that you are five siblings involved in sports activities. You also touch upon why the centre is important for the local community and describe the possible effects of its closure, noting that retired people will not have any activities to do and that local residents will lose a way to stay active and healthy. However, your position and explanations are not always clearly presented, and some points lack extension and support. To move up to a higher band, you need to develop your ideas more fully, providing clearer examples and a more thorough expansion of each bullet point in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation in your letter, with an attempt to group your ideas into distinct paragraphs. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as your use of pronouns like 'over there' and 'on leisure centre'. Paragraphing is also inconsistent, with some thoughts running together rather than being clearly separated. To improve your score in this area, you should work on logical sequencing, using a wider variety of appropriate cohesive devices naturally, and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-structured theme that guides the reader smoothly through your letter.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey your basic message. You use some common words and attempt a few less common expressions, but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For example, terms like 'massive issue', 'activitys', 'impotant', 'excrisise', and 'possitve dession' contain spelling and word-form errors. Additionally, phrasing such as 'huge amount of people like from our friend circle' sounds unnatural. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your lexical range, improve your spelling accuracy, and use precise word choices and collocations that are appropriate for formal correspondence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You demonstrate a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, and your attempts at more complex structures are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms, tenses, article usage, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'form last 5 years', 'all of them are involve', 'after most of the people want', and 'retire people'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing capitalisation and run-on sentences that lack proper punctuation. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammatical range and accuracy, you should practice constructing accurate complex sentences, pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules, and carefully proofread your writing for punctuation and verb forms.
