Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to throw some light about sports and lesiure centre. It beacame a boom for local residence of our ward. As per my personal views, it works like refreshment and a most presiuse time which i spent with my family and friends after hectic lifestyle. With Friends we do barbecue and effective talk about future. on the other hand, we do Yoga, runing and most vital thing that is daily evening walk after having meal make it most useful place in my life.
It is also blessing for local community people who live nearby. As they do small get togethers and kitty parties. Pepole who work from use this centre as thier office to procced their daily job.
Moreover, my concern is about that i hear that local authorities taking action to close this center for some reasons but as residence of this place think that it effects every single persons life in negative way as they will not have any commercial and open place to spend their lesiure time and it make people difficult to find some other centre which are not close by. So as per sincere residence i request you to please take some positive and legal steps to keep this centre and we all help you in any way where our help will be needed.
Your Sincerely
Bikramjit Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the prompt, successfully giving details of how the centre is used, explaining its importance to the community, and describing the negative effects of its closure. The ideas presented are generally relevant, fulfilling the baseline requirements for the task. However, some areas are slightly under-developed or expressed with limited depth. For instance, the ways the centre is used by family and friends, such as doing barbecues and having talks, are mentioned briefly without much elaboration. Similarly, the effects of closure are stated straightforwardly but lack extended argumentation. To move further up, the writer would need to fully develop every part of the prompt with more extended, well-supported ideas and a more consistent, fully realised communicative purpose throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable beginning, body, and conclusion, appropriately using paragraphing to separate different points, such as personal usage, community benefits, and the reaction to the planned closure. The progression of ideas is generally understandable. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or features faulty referencing, such as the abrupt transitions between sentences in the second paragraph ('Pepole who work from use this centre...'). Cohesive devices are occasionally overused or imprecise. To achieve a higher level, the writer needs to employ referencing and logical connectors with greater flexibility and subtlety, ensuring that relationships between sentences and paragraphs flow seamlessly without causing any momentary confusion for the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer attempts less common vocabulary throughout the response, such as 'refreshment', 'hectic lifestyle', and 'local authorities', which provides a minimally adequate range for the task. However, the vocabulary is constrained by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include writing 'lesiure' instead of leisure, 'beacame a boom' instead of became a boon, 'local residence' instead of residents, and 'presiuse' instead of precious. Word forms and collocations are also imprecise in places, such as 'effective talk about future' or 'as per sincere residence'. To reach the next level, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, improve spelling accuracy, and use words with greater precision and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like relative clauses and conditional-style reasoning. However, there is a limited range of reliable structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, articles, verb forms, and punctuation that cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'I am writing this letter to throw some light about' instead of on, 'It beacame' instead of It has become, 'time which i spent' instead of time I spend, 'runing' instead of running, and missing articles in 'make it most useful place'. To improve, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammatical patterns, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency, while increasing the proportion of error-free sentences.
