Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only minimally, as the coverage of the required bullet points is very limited and underdeveloped. While the writer mentions how the centre is used ("swimming, gym and attend parties") and touches upon its importance for the community and the effects of closure, these ideas lack sufficient expansion and detail. For instance, the impact of closure is stated very generally rather than being thoroughly explored in terms of specific consequences for local residents. The overall response stays somewhat tangential and brief, providing a minimal template of a letter rather than a fully realized argument. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure all parts of the prompt are fully covered with well-developed, extended ideas and clear supporting details for each required point.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The letter shows some organization through the use of basic paragraph breaks and initial greeting and sign-off formulas, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas from start to finish. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of conversational connectors or abrupt transitions between sentences like "Actually, using of lesiure and sports centre are very important" and "Moreover, the availablity of these centers". Paragraphing is attempted, but ideas within paragraphs are not always logically grouped or smoothly linked together. Referencing is also occasionally unclear. To improve coherence and achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices, ensure logical sequencing between sentences, and develop each paragraph around a single, clearly connected central theme with a stronger progression of thought.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, featuring noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "psychologicaly", "availablity", and "aminities", but these contain spelling errors or awkward word forms. There are also noticeable issues with word choice and collocation, such as "alots of activities" and "incourage to others to moved near by it". While the basic message is conveyed, the lexical range remains basic and repetitive. To progress to a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, use less common lexical items with greater precision and stylistic awareness, and pay closer attention to correct word forms, collocations, and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside frequent errors. Attempts at more complex structures are often faulty, as seen in "I am writing to you for thanking for the council that you is opened for locals" and "using of lesiure and sports centre are very important". There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as "I and my family uses it for very long time" and "childeren can join it after schooling hours". These frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty and strain for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of sentence structures, improve control over basic grammar rules, and reduce the frequency of errors across verbs, agreement, and punctuation.
