Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm writing to address the potential benifits of council utilising by by the local people in our sports and leisure centre. The activities conducting by the council is remarkable and making the community life resier.
I'm extremely proud to be a member of our local council. The sport and leisure centre faciliated by the council, has provided a common place for us to unite during sport activities, cultural events, and other special programmes. Similarly, as my family and friend circle are both on games and extra activities, we have been benifited taking participation in every events.
I herd the centre is going to be closed on coming December for renovation. I believe it will disappoint the community member's for not being able to organize Christmas events. Eventually, current belief of people on council will be negatively affected with this decision of chosing that time.
So I believe, it would be better if council postpone the schedule of renovation of centre for January and open during december for Christmas and other activities. It would be a perfect strategic points to keep the peoples faith on local council. Thank You.
Best Regards,
Sabin Sharma.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the main situation and give a clear request: you suggest postponing the renovation until January so the centre can remain open for Christmas. You also mention that your family and friends take part in sports and other activities, and that the centre brings people together. However, the requested details are only partly developed. The letter does not explain specifically how you use the centre, and the effects of closure are focused mainly on missing Christmas events and reduced trust in the council. Add practical consequences, such as fewer opportunities for exercise, social contact, or activities for young people, and explain why these matter to the wider community. Your position is present, but the reasons need fuller support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the issue, describes the centre’s community role, explains a concern about closure, and ends with a proposed solution. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Similarly” and “Eventually” show an effort to connect ideas. At times, however, the links are not fully logical or clear. For example, “Similarly” does not clearly connect the centre’s role with your family’s participation, while “Eventually” is not a natural signal for the consequence that follows. Some references, such as “it” and “this decision,” could also be more precise. Use straightforward transitions that show cause and effect, and make each paragraph develop one clear point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary suited to a formal letter and community topic, including “potential benefits,” “cultural events,” “community,” and “renovation.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “benifits,” “resier,” and “faciliated.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “activities conducting by the council” and “current belief of people on council.” Choose familiar, accurate expressions rather than forcing formal wording: for example, “activities organised by the council” and “residents’ confidence in the council.” Proofreading spelling and checking common word partnerships would make your meaning clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use a mixture of simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, such as “The sport and leisure centre … has provided a common place for us to unite during sport activities, cultural events, and other special programmes.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms can make the message hard to follow. For instance, “I'm writing to address the potential benifits of council utilising by by the local people” does not form a clear grammatical sentence, and “as my family and friend circle are both on games” has an unclear structure. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and agreement in phrases such as “every events” and “the community member's.” Practise building clear subject–verb sentences before adding longer clauses.
