Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three requested points and gives relevant examples. You explain that you and your relatives use the centre for the gym and cricket, describe it as a place where students and older residents can take part in activities and meet others, and mention that regular users missed it during its temporary closure. These details make the response relevant to the council’s decision. However, the consequences of a permanent closure are only suggested through people missing the centre; explain more specifically what local residents might lose, such as access to exercise, social contact, or affordable activities. The community’s benefits are also listed more than developed. A clearer request that the council keep the centre open would make your purpose as a letter to the council more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The information is arranged in a generally understandable order: you introduce the centre, describe your own use, discuss its community role, and then refer to the effects of its closure. Connectors such as “Moreover” and “During that period” help show relationships between ideas. However, the paragraphs are not clearly separated, and the shift from your family’s activities to students and retirees could be signposted more smoothly. Some references are also unclear, as in “they feel some missing in them life,” where the reader has to infer who “they” refers to and what is missing. Use distinct paragraphs for personal use, community importance, and closure effects, and make pronoun references explicit to create clearer progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of relevant topic vocabulary, including “physical activity,” “regular participants,” “retirees,” and “gathering point,” which helps communicate the centre’s role. However, several spelling errors and unnatural word choices make parts of the letter difficult to read, for example “comunity,” “helpfull,” “ponit,” and “gland.” Some phrases are also unsuitable or unclear in this context, such as “running news” and “kith and kin.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise language for the centre’s benefits and the consequences of closure would also strengthen the message, rather than relying on broad phrases such as “many more” and “some missing.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The letter includes mostly simple sentences and a few attempts to connect ideas, such as “Moreover, I meet with new people and talk with them…” This gives some variety, but control of verb forms and sentence patterns is inconsistent. For example, “I am writing this letter to gives” should use the base form after “to,” and “Once in a week I goes” has an incorrect verb form and time expression. In “School students and them parents lean new activity,” the possessive and plural structure are not controlled. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, including the lowercase “they” after a full stop. Practise accurate simple clauses first, then add longer sentences with clear subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
