Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the main situation and include a personal example: your family uses the centre, and your brother and friends go there regularly. You also state that it matters to the community and that closure would cause difficulties. However, these points are only briefly mentioned, so the reasons the centre benefits local people and the specific effects of closure are not explained. The letter also does not clearly develop how you and your family use the facilities. The response is 99 words, below the required 150, which leaves important parts of the task underdeveloped. Add concrete details, such as activities, health or social benefits, and what residents would lose if the centre shut.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic sequence: you introduce your connection to the centre, explain its importance, and then mention possible difficulties if it closes. This gives the reader a general sense of the letter’s purpose. However, the ideas are very brief and the progression is not fully clear; for example, “we get lots of thing from this center” does not explain what those benefits are. The repeated use of “its very helpfull” also makes the message feel repetitive rather than developed. Use separate, clearly focused paragraphs for your family’s use, the centre’s community value, and the consequences of closure, linking each point with simple transitions such as “In addition” and “As a result.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “family,” “community,” “sports center,” and “difficulties,” so the general message can be understood. However, the range is limited and several words are repeated, particularly “center” and “helpfull.” Spelling errors such as “comunity,” “improtent,” and “evryday,” along with unclear wording such as “we will give aiyr efferds,” make parts of the letter difficult to interpret. Aim for more precise phrases that explain the benefits and consequences, rather than relying on general words like “things” and “helpful.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing familiar, accurate expressions will make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses short, simple statements, such as “we need this center,” and attempts a conditional sentence about what may happen if the centre closes. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning unclear. For example, “my brother and friends goes” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “if the sports center will be close” uses an unsuitable verb form in the conditional. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, including the opening and closing lines. Practise forming accurate present-tense sentences and conditionals, such as “If the centre closes, local people will have to travel farther,” before trying to add more complex structures.
