Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
The centre in our are is very useful, and it provides many services to locals. My family and I go there to spend quality time whenever we are free. Sometimes we all friend make plan to take advantages of sports activities to kill the boredem.
The locatin of this centre is in the middle of the town; therefore, it is accessible for everyone. The facilites available over there are excellent: swimming pool, basketball courtyad, and gym. The impressive thing about theses all the facilites are indoor. The children and other who are willing to learn activities, all can participate and stay fit.
By closing this centre can bring negative effects on locals. Some people can lose their jobs, which can create economical problem in their lives. Moreover, children have to struggle to go somewhere else to perform such activites, and aged people who struggle in physical activites, they can easily meet here.
I think you woud consider this matter. Thanks you in advance.
Best regards,
Ku

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you describe family visits and activities, explain the centre’s accessibility and facilities, and identify possible job losses and difficulties for children and older residents if it closes. Your position is clear in “I think you would consider this matter,” although a more direct request to keep the centre open would make the purpose stronger. The community benefits are relevant, but some are asserted rather than explained—for example, you mention that people can “stay fit” without showing how the centre supports different groups or brings them together. The possible effects are also unevenly developed: job losses are noted, but the consequences for affected workers and residents could be made more specific. More explanation and support would strengthen the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it moves from your family’s use of the centre, to its facilities and community value, and then to the consequences of closure. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and connectors such as “therefore” and “Moreover” make some relationships clear. However, progression within sentences is occasionally difficult to follow, as in “Sometimes we all friend make plan to take advantages of sports activities,” and “The impressive thing about theses all the facilites are indoor.” Some references, such as “there” and “these all,” are also unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main point and use more precise linking and reference—for example, explain how the facilities benefit residents before moving to the closure’s effects.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “sports activities,” “swimming pool,” “basketball court,” “accessible,” and “physical activities.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “spend quality time” and “economical problem.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms or collocations are noticeable, including “are” for “area,” “boredem,” “locatin,” “facilites,” and “take advantages.” Phrases such as “kill the boredom” and “perform such activities” are not natural choices in this context, which can make the message less fluent. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe people as “taking part in activities” and say the centre “helps residents stay active.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence with “therefore” and one beginning “By closing this centre.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure and agreement sometimes make the reader work to interpret them. For example, “Sometimes we all friend make plan” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “The impressive thing about theses all the facilites are indoor” has a mismatch between the subject and verb. “By closing this centre can bring negative effects” also needs a subject, such as “Closing this centre could bring negative effects.” Review articles, plurals, and subject–verb agreement, and build complex sentences from a clear subject and verb. More accurate control would make your varied attempts easier to follow.
