Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people say that the story of news in television and newspaper mostly shown with photograph, others think that this is a good approach to know about news. There are some positive and negative reasons behind this scenario.

There are some reasons form the positive side of this scene. The main idea is that it is very good approach for people who are uneducated and who cannot read they can learn in an easy way. Other than this, People who create these pictures, they are using their skill and getting paid for this as to why this is there financial support. Apart from this, sometimes pictures put more impact as written content can be good but which is seen can be more effective. For example, the news of road accident is okay to read but when it comes to see picture like how it was then definitely it will put more impact.

On the other side, The prime downside is that sometime, media just replay the photos again and again instead of continuing there program. The second reason is that It puts impact on the font of letters due to pictures by which people get difficulty to read. Finally, Sometimes media like to give knowledge fast but they use AI generated photos and from another scenes, which put wrong impact on public. In the society, it is very necessary to give proper news.

In conclusion, Lack of study and job of people are the main reasons behind this scenario. I am strongly agree as pictures are good way to spread news in the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the effectiveness of pictures in news. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that pictures help uneducated people and provide financial support for photographers, these points are not fully explored. The conclusion states a clear position, but the body paragraphs lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. To improve, ensure that each point is supported with a clear explanation or a more detailed illustration of how the visual medium impacts the audience compared to text. The response is balanced, but the arguments could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from this', 'On the other side', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'There are some reasons form the positive side of this scene'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety to avoid a repetitive structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'story of news' instead of 'news stories' and 'put wrong impact' instead of 'mislead the public'. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but there is a lack of more sophisticated or academic collocations. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology and varying your word choices to avoid repeating simple phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('media just replay', 'pictures... is'), article usage, and sentence fragments. For example, 'as to why this is there financial support' is grammatically incorrect. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity of your writing. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors and practicing more complex sentence structures to improve accuracy.
