Student answer (Band 6.5)

In todays world of technology, many individuals say that different media channels use visuals like videos or photos which are more appealing then the written news. In my opinion, pictures or videos creates a huge effect on readers and helps them to understand news from visuals. This essay will discuss the effects of above notion with suitable conclusion.

Initiating with the benefits of adding pictures in newspaper or TV stories. Firstly, nowadays everyone have a busy lifestyle. The visuals during the news attracts the readers and viewers by creating a interest in them to know in detail about the news. For example, picture of Prime Minester Modi in the front page attracts reader to know more in detail what speach PM has give like is there new announcement or something other. Secondly, this stratigy helps to increase the TRP of TV channels or sales of newspaper. Most of news paper used to print advertisement to gain more profit.

On the other hand there are some other people who thought it is a wast of time to see a video with incomplete information, so number of individuals prefer to read newspaper regardless of pictures. Furthermore, videos and pictures sometimes conveys the wrong message to the people which can lead to serious consiquences in any nation. Whereas, today's generation likes to watch short videos of news because they feel reading boring and wastage of time. It leads the media channels to change their pattern.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that visual presentations are more effective then words. But there should be some rules and regulations implemented by government to avoid the misuse of this technology, I think, aforementioned points strongly support my viewpoint.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear opinion that visual media is more effective than text. The ideas are relevant, such as the role of visuals in capturing attention and the potential for misinformation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'TRP' and advertising is mentioned but not fully linked back to the core argument about the effectiveness of pictures versus words. The conclusion is present but brief. To improve, you should aim to expand on your examples and ensure that every paragraph directly supports your central thesis with more depth and analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'effects of above notion'. The transition between the idea of 'busy lifestyles' and 'TRP' is a bit abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the logical progression between sentences is smoother and more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'visual presentations', 'media channels', and 'regulations'. However, there are several spelling errors ('todays', 'Prime Minester', 'speach', 'stratigy', 'wast', 'consiquences') and some awkward word choices ('creates a huge effect', 'is there new announcement'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and academic phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('pictures or videos creates', 'everyone have', 'Most of news paper used') and incorrect comparative structures ('more appealing then' instead of 'than'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and comma splices. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct usage of comparative forms.
