Student answer (Band 6.5)
News are the vital information that is provided by Television and newspaper in every nation. Individuals believes that a news story comes with image is more informative, while others trust that its important. In my opinion, Pictures acts as a proof and shows the current emotions of that particular story. In this following essay, I will explain my thoughts about it.
To begin with, every news describes a story which we can watch on TV and read on news paper. A picture is a evidence of that current moment when the things are happed. People do not easily believes what they hear and read so with the help of a image they can clearly known about the truth. For instance, a recent protest happed in India in which students are standing against education minister shows many picture of cruelity towards student. The police did baton charge on student and after it they denied it so, the images of adults told the truth about it. By photos, people can see the whole reality of everything.
Furthermore, the second reason is emotions. A news become popular when population feels the sensitivity about criminal activity. An example of this is a famous case of acid attack on a female. Firstly, it was only a story for everyone and some thinks its just a script but when that girl shows her burnt face to the media. It got the attention of every human. Its significant to open everyone's eyes.
Overall, although, photos contain sensitive information, but its significant to reveal the truth with proofs. In this digital word people only trust the things that they can witnessed with their eyes and also it helps to solve the cases easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion that pictures are more effective than words due to their ability to provide proof and evoke emotion. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the protest in India and the acid attack case. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation of why pictures are 'more effective' could be deepened by contrasting them more explicitly with the limitations of text. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from a more nuanced exploration of the topic to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Overall', though some of these are used in a slightly mechanical or repetitive way. Referencing is generally clear, although there are occasional lapses in flow due to grammatical errors that make some sentences feel disjointed. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'cruelity' (spelled incorrectly as 'cruelity' instead of 'cruelty') and 'sensitivity'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are noticeable errors in word choice and form, such as 'a evidence' instead of 'evidence' and 'happed' instead of 'happened'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the score to the 6.0 band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Individuals believes', 'Pictures acts'), article usage ('a evidence'), and verb tense errors ('happed' instead of 'happened'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. To improve, the writer should focus on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage, as well as refining the use of articles.
