Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this era of technology source of news changing rapidly and most of the agencies use pictures to show it. While few individuals says that it images shows more that the words. In the upcoming paragraph i will discuss about it and give my opinion.
First of all, there is no doubt that many news paper and news channels use pictures for the news which really define the emotion for particular things. For example, last week there was flood in kashmir which is in india. I heard that news from my friend it did not effect me that much but when he shows the videos of broken house and roads i feel it so well.
Secondly, nowadays everyone is busy in there work no one have time to read a full page or watch whole news this can be one reason for the picture. Moreover children are not really into news they get bored so quick but having pictures in it can help them to make focus. One good example can be my nephew he look for images in his book to get interested in it and read it. However he has to read even if there is no picture but he prefers images first.
On the other hand, words are also important to understand the news only picture can not convey the whole massage. Words are required to get some information about the news where it from and when happened.
To conclude it, in my opinion both play vital role to convey massage it just a different way to get news but the image part is more heavier then the words.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing that while both are important, images are more effective. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The example regarding the flood in Kashmir is relevant, but the explanation of why images are 'more effective' could be more deeply explored beyond just emotional impact. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better synthesised the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough analysis of the 'why' and 'how' behind your claims, rather than relying on simple personal anecdotes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in your argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences feels slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of children and the nephew example could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'agencies', 'emotion', and 'convey'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'the image part is more heavier' and 'convey the whole massage' (intended: message). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and you rely on basic descriptors. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Focus on using words that accurately reflect the nuance of your argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('few individuals says', 'no one have time'), incorrect verb tenses ('when he shows the videos'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically checking for subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
