IELTS Writing Task 2 question

News stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures.

Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words.

What is your opinion about this?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people believe that stories on the television and in the dailies should be expressed by pictures rather than words which they state that it more effective. I support this view because stories would help the reader to be more attracted and comprehend to what is being read.

I firmly believe that pictures can draw people attention to what they do not see or read. Some companies do utilize this method in order to capture the public attention to a product. Because pictures attract people than reading words.

Furthermore, photographs or an artwork enables people to have deep knowledge and understanding of what the message being pass than taking time out their busy schedule to read words. For instance, people can comprehend faster to a single artwork of a woman carrying a baby with tears on her eyes than sitting to reading words.
