Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, using images in the newspaper and TV or else in the stories are increasingly. However, many people have faith that pictures are more attractive than words. My inclination is well-elaborated in ensuing write-up.
One of the most significant reason of using images in news stories to attract the people because sometimes some news are boring or not interested. So, images make the news better and influenced too. For example if any news channel is presenting the news of related agriculture or politics. Thus, it will not attracted by youngsters so they are using pictures so people will prefer to watch.
Moreover, some images gives better explanations as well. If people is reading any kind of particular thing in newspapers so image present clarification about the look of the product and size, colour too. If I talk about Television in some news are also like crime related so if they evidence so they would like to give warning or else knowledge that what is happening in the World. Thus, Television the news channels presented the video or else images. Furthermore, some advertisements like beauty products. If they give experimental video to show the using of product so people will no more about it and the individuals influenced to buy that product. For instance, In a survey it is stated that the 70% of women is using Forever 21 foundation is that influenced by the images in TV which showed the better and glowing skin.
To recapitulate, nonetheless, in my preference the using of images in the news is vital because it not make news boring and sometimes, it is also give the information about the one particular thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the effectiveness of images in news. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention that images attract attention and provide clarification, the explanation is often repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the example regarding 'Forever 21' is somewhat tangential to the core topic of news reporting. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported argument that directly relates to the prompt's focus on news media rather than general advertising.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'To recapitulate', they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not clearly link the ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between agriculture, politics, and the use of images is disjointed. Improving the flow between sentences would significantly enhance the clarity of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'news', 'images', and 'people'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'increasingly' used as an adjective and 'experimental video' instead of 'demonstration'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the reliance on simple vocabulary prevent the response from reaching a higher band. You should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to media and communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some images gives', '70% of women is using') and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes them difficult to follow. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often inaccurate, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that subjects and verbs agree before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
