Student answer (Band 6.0)
Information through media plays vital role in everyone's life. As the technology evolved, the medium of information changed from radio to TV and newspaper. Today's world we can see information is shared through TV and newspaper rather than just words used to share ideas.
Eventually we can see the ideas or information is more clear when they are shown through pictures rather than words. For example, a news showing employment data through graphs or clear pictures is more understandable than through words. It makes the concept more precise when advertised through images. Pictures are more powerful than words as it attacks your mind and force it to stay connected.
In my opinion, the media is more powerful when it uses pictures rather than context. As the technology is booming, even the social media platform are introducing advertisements through pictures. It helps to share ideas quickly with less explanation and in more attractive way. Mostly advertisements through images can approach wide range of audience. Nowadays, TV and newspapers are getting more attracted because of the visuals influenced to people rather than words used to provide information.
Furthermore, I would say the media has launched so many campaigns through photos which attracts the public in many ways. Especially clothes, accessories, animated videos, food and beverages, etc. The platform were people are engaged by bright visuals, attractive deals and popularity hits the target audience. Thus, people get influenced by pictures rather than words as generation is more towards practical rather than just words.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the effectiveness of pictures versus words in media. You maintain a clear position throughout, arguing that visuals are more powerful. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. While you provide examples like employment data and advertising, the analysis remains at a surface level. To reach a higher band, you should expand on 'why' pictures are more effective by exploring psychological or cultural factors in greater depth, rather than simply stating that they are 'attractive' or 'powerful'. The response is consistent with the task requirements but lacks the depth of exploration needed for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Thus', and 'For example' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump between discussing news and then moving to advertising in the third paragraph could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be improved by ensuring that each sentence builds more effectively upon the previous one rather than restating the same point in different words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advertised', 'campaigns', and 'visuals'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that limit precision. For example, you write 'media is more powerful when it uses pictures rather than context' (likely meaning 'text') and 'visuals influenced to people' (should be 'influence people'). There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary like 'words' and 'pictures'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include missing articles ('as the technology evolved' should be 'as technology evolved'), subject-verb agreement ('social media platform are' should be 'platforms are'), and awkward phrasing ('generation is more towards practical'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammar and refining sentence construction will help elevate your score.
