Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, some people argue that the images are more under stable than the written news in some platforms such as television and printed publications. In my opinion, neither can be used without the other.

On the one side, the news reporter cannot show the news without words. This is because audience cannot understand about what they are watching on the TV news. If they show only visuals without texts, then the public get confused who does not know the particular person in the News. For example, the India Tv release the news about the conspiracy in politics in only pictures, then the youngsters who does not have knowledge in this field how do they identify the person. Therefore, in some cases this kind of adults lost their interest in the news stories.

On the other side, the local newspaper publishers cannot print text in the printed paper without images. Moreover, if they print the pictures with written news about whom and what they are talking about make easy for the young folks to understand. For instance, the Sandesh newspaper shows some photos with text that it will make more impact on public who read daily paper. Therefore, both are very essential for the news stories for better understanding.

To sum up, some locals believe that visuals create a major effect on people then only word print. However, in my perception, written news on paper and TV are as important as text reading as they make citizens easy to understand instead of using only one of them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of both images and text in news. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like 'India Tv' and 'Sandesh newspaper', the explanation of why these examples support your argument is slightly repetitive and lacks depth. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. To improve, focus on explaining the 'why' behind your opinions more thoroughly, perhaps by discussing the psychological impact of visuals versus the analytical depth provided by text.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one side', 'On the other side', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'the public get confused who does not know'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is always precise will help create a smoother, more professional progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinion clearly. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice or non-standard collocations, such as 'under stable' (understandable), 'the public get confused who does not know' (the public who do not know get confused), and 'word print' (written text). To achieve a higher score, you should aim for more precise terminology and avoid repeating the same basic words. Expanding your range to include more academic collocations would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the youngsters who does not have knowledge') and awkward sentence construction ('if they print the pictures with written news about whom and what they are talking about make easy'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage.
