Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some segment of individuals arguing about the use graphical content in news stories on television and in newspaper are more effective than words. I believe that this practice is a good medium to describe the stories in effective ways.
On the one hand, In old time, when newspaper just started, it comes with words only that contains only particular information, but now every stories comes with pictures that helps to elaborate behind the seen of words without needs to read all. It is beneficial for who don't have much time to read all the content. one can easily get the idea what this articles want to say. For example, newspapers come with lots of pages with many information, and it is hard to cover all this in some specific time. Instead, people try to understand that information with the help of graphical content in a very short time. As a result, it saves there valuable time.
On the other hand, these visual effects has different impact on television. Nowadays, almost all stories are covered with graphics. It leads people to stay connected with stories. So, they don't get easily distracted. For instance, every advertisement companies show there product with visuals, and customers get easily attracts by them. As a result, they buy those products. All of the industries rely on visual advertisement, make profit from them.
To conclude, I firmly believe that visuals acts as an excellent mediator between sender and receiver. The receiver can easily access the motive of the information, and the sender can full-fill there motive of making money and convey there message in effective way.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion that visual content is effective. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons for the effectiveness of pictures in newspapers (time-saving) and on television (engagement), the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the example regarding advertisements is relevant but does not fully connect back to the core topic of 'news stories' as requested. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more directly aligned with the specific context of news media and provide more nuanced analysis rather than just stating that visuals save time or increase profits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'it comes with words only' or 'they don't get easily distracted'. The logical progression is generally maintained, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to avoid a repetitive feel. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'graphical content', 'visual effects', and 'mediator', but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'behind the seen of words' (instead of 'behind the scenes') and 'full-fill there motive' (instead of 'fulfill their motive'). Additionally, there is a recurring issue with homophones (e.g., 'there' instead of 'their'). To improve, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and word usage in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these visual effects has', 'visuals acts'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'customers get easily attracts'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization, verb tense consistency, and the correct use of possessive pronouns like 'their'.
