Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 128 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks for an opinion on whether pictures are more effective than words, the essay is incomplete and stops abruptly after introducing one example. The position is not fully developed, and the response does not address the prompt in its entirety. Because the essay is severely under-length and lacks a conclusion or a balanced discussion of the topic, it cannot be awarded a higher band for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay attempts to use paragraphing and some cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand'. However, the logical progression is interrupted by the premature end of the text. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure is underdeveloped. While there is a basic attempt to organize ideas, the lack of a complete argument makes the flow disjointed. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are fully expanded before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'mordon' (modern), 'equpmaints' (equipment), 'gaither' (gather), and 'newspapaers' (newspapers). The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas effectively. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or precise collocations. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on expanding your vocabulary related to media and communication and pay closer attention to the spelling of common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone have', 'student protest'), incorrect verb forms ('are giveing'), and awkward sentence structures ('they can not even try on cover student side of view'). The range of structures is limited to simple sentences, with few attempts at complex grammar. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of verb tenses.
