Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the effectiveness of pictures versus words in media. You maintain a clear position throughout, acknowledging the benefits of images while also highlighting potential drawbacks like manipulation and distraction. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of political satire. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'manipulation' is introduced but not fully explored with a concrete example. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is elaborated upon with more depth and specific detail to fully satisfy the 'well-developed' requirement of the higher band descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'However', and 'To conclude with' to signal transitions between ideas. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level cohesion, such as the phrase 'some writers or news channels do political stires in the form of photos', which lacks a smooth connection to the previous sentence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. There are some attempts at using less common vocabulary, such as 'manipulate' and 'satire', which is positive. However, there are several spelling errors ('boaring', 'intrest', 'expalin', 'adds', 'samll', 'becuase') and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'political stires' (likely meaning 'satire') and 'good role'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and expanding your repertoire of collocations related to media and communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Some people thinks', 'other thinks', 'photos... explains') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and unnecessary commas. For example, 'if there are only words and there will be no photos than it can be frustrating' contains awkward phrasing and incorrect conjunction usage. To achieve a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and demonstrate more consistent control over complex grammatical forms, particularly in ensuring subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage.
