Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this era of generation, some people believe that the stories are posting in news and Television are more effective by pictures. While other in society thinks that showing pictures rather than words can easy to explain the whole situation. this essay will discuss the both plots with relevant example, followed by my point of view.

There are several reasons of following this trend. one of the most importantly, pictures can attract people's attention. they are easy to understand. pictures can show emotion and realistic view of the incident. Additionally, society can remember the event by the picture. For example, a picture of flood can immediately showed how serious the situation was. people can understand the view without reading a long article.

However, some folks believe that words gives detailed information of the situation. they explain cause and effect of that incident. Furthermore, words can provides facts and different opinions. For Instance, if news starts sharing news by only pictures then people do not aware of the situation happed exactly and what causes and solution they get. As a result, people will not able to know the fact and get the detailed information.

Although, pictures can make news stories more betterly understandable rather than words, but I believe, words can make a more impact to explain the whole incident in detail and provides different perspectives.

In conclusion, pictures are more effective to get attention of people while words can more useful to provides better idea of the accident. Therefore, people should be more interested in words to get proper information rather than only focusing on pictures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the effectiveness of pictures and the importance of words. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that pictures provide emotional impact and words provide facts, these points are not fully extended with deep analysis or nuanced examples. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments remain at a basic level. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations of why pictures might be more effective in specific contexts (e.g., breaking news) versus why text is essential for complex investigative journalism.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'However', and 'Furthermore' to link sentences. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition in the second paragraph could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the central topic of each paragraph is generally easy to follow, though the logical links between sentences could be more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple terms like 'good', 'better', and 'understandable'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'stories are posting' (should be 'posted') and 'make news stories more betterly understandable' (which is grammatically incorrect and uses non-standard phrasing). To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form. The range is sufficient to communicate your meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('words gives', 'words can provides'), incorrect verb forms ('people do not aware'), and awkward phrasing ('more betterly'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that auxiliary verbs are used correctly with main verbs.
