Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the potential for images to be misleading and their utility in data presentation. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide a clear stance, the arguments regarding the 'deceptive' nature of images could be more deeply explored with more specific examples beyond the hypothetical crime scenario. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear reasoning and a stronger connection to the overall thesis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the flip side' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the discussion of news sources and the example of the crime. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pictorial information', 'demographics', and 'forecasting'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'influencing factor when it come to achievement of the news' and 'withstanding of the economics'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary in a natural, contextually appropriate manner.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('it come to', 'news required to project') and article usage ('a graphs', 'the news presented of the serious crime'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and sentence fragment issues, such as 'Which can led to whole news being diverted...'. These errors occur throughout the text, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intended message.
