Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is ongoing debate on that news stories on mass media and newspapers are linked with pictures whereas, it is argument by few people that effects of pictures are more efficient than words. However, I believe that any news associated with the picture is increase an interest of person to watch or read that.

Mass media and newspapers trying to attract their audience to provide news with good quality of picture which is more efficient and time saving method. Moreover, people getting busy in their daily routine that's why they do not have much time to read about news , pictures with news allow them to have a look about what is situation and the reason behind it.

Any news stories without pictures make their audience boring. Sometime news stories are to long to explain, people do not prefer to read whole stories if there is no any pictures linked with it. Furthermore, news stories with pictures more effective because person can think about the situation while reading and get quick idea about the whole scenario before finish reading.

For instance, nowadays there are any social media apps where plenty of news comes with pictures and video which can help to understand about the ongoing situation.

In conclusion, it is best way to provide any news which is associated by pictures. Although, In my opinion it has a efficient effect on person's mind than the words it is convenient way to save time and get to know quickly about the situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion that pictures are more effective than words. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. While you mention that pictures save time and increase interest, these points are restated several times without significant expansion or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or explore the psychological impact of visual media versus text in greater detail. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. For example, the connection between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and sentence structure that make the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'good quality of picture', 'news stories', and 'efficient' are used frequently. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'any news associated with the picture is increase an interest' and 'make their audience boring'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including more precise adjectives and collocations related to media and communication, while ensuring they are used accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'pictures... is increase'), missing articles (e.g., 'without pictures make their audience'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'there are any social media apps'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and article usage.
