Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that these pictures are more effective than words. Sometimes people are see new stories on TV but mostly old people are read newspapers. Most people say in newspapers sometime show pictures about stories, but not written stories on newspapers. Pictures can attract attention and communicate information quickly, but words are still necessary to explain the full situation. I will discuss both situation and also share own opinion.
On the one hand, adults are mostly use technology like social media, news apps and other more apps. Which is not convenient way to daily news. A photograph may show the result of an event, but it cannot always explain its causes background or consequences. For instance, a picture of a crowded hospital may show that many people need medical care, but a written report can explain why the hospital is overcrowded and what authorities are doing about the problem. Words can also provide dates, opinions from experts which can help readers understand an issue more deeply.
On the other hand, pictures can be more powerful than written descriptions in many situations. A single image can immediately show people what has happened and create a strong emotional responses. For example, when a emotional disaster such a flood and earthquake occurs, a photograph can show the damage roads, homes, and public places much more clearly than a long written description. In addition, pictures are easy to understand, even for people who have limited reading skills.
In my opinion, pictures and words are most effective when they are used together. Pictures attract people's attention and make news more memorable, while written information gives context and accurate details. Therefore, although pictures can sometimes be more effective than words, neither one is sufficient on its own. A balanced combination of both is the best way to present news clearly and effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all parts of the task by discussing both the effectiveness of pictures and the necessity of words, ultimately providing a clear opinion. Your ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the hospital scenario and the mention of natural disasters. To reach a higher band, ensure your introduction is more precise; currently, the opening sentences are slightly repetitive and lack clarity regarding the prompt. Additionally, ensure that your arguments are fully developed rather than just stated. For example, while you mention that pictures are good for those with limited reading skills, expanding on why this is crucial in a global context would strengthen your response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use transition signals like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' to guide the reader through your argument. However, the cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as in the first paragraph. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'which is not convenient') clearly links back to the intended noun phrase to avoid ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consequences', 'emotional disaster', and 'context'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'mostly use technology' instead of 'mostly use technology' or 'emotional disaster' instead of 'natural disaster'. Some phrasing is also repetitive or imprecise, such as 'other more apps'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and refining your use of academic vocabulary to ensure your meaning is conveyed with greater precision and naturalness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people are see', 'people are read'), incorrect article usage ('a emotional disaster'), and sentence fragments ('Which is not convenient way'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are frequent enough to limit your score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article placement to improve your accuracy.
